8th Annual Chocolate Lovers’ Festival in Eureka Springs Arkansas!

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Mark your calendar for Saturday, February 11, 2012, for chocolate gorging.

There is chocolate sampling all day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults ($6 for children) and worth every penny, because you get to take a box around with you to all the display tables, chow down on samples AND fill up the box for wonderful chocolate to take home. You will see some wonderful displays (great for ideas for weddings and parties) and one of my favorite things in the whole wide-world:  chocolate fountains.

The Chocolate Lovers’ Festival is always planned every year to coincide with Valentine’s Weekend, so what could be more perfect? This is a nationally acclaimed festival, which has been featured in the national media, including Southern Living magazine. On top of that, it has been selected as the second-best attraction for Valentine’s Day in the state of Arkansas!

A complete world of chocolate appreciation will be featured at the 8th Annual Chocolate Lovers’ Festival including cakes, cookies, ice cream, multiple dipping fountains, beverages and more. Chocolate novelty items and body products will be on hand as well.

We will be happy to host you here at the Bridgeford House Bed and Breakfast in Eureka Springs Arkansas – and we will help you eat the chocolate, too, if you just end up with way too much (is there such a thing?) Weather so far this winter has been gorgeous, so come on up to Eureka! Sophie’s waiting in the window!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

Mardi Gras in Eureka Springs, 2012!

Tuesday, December 20th, 2011

Thanks to the “Krewe of Krazo” (that’s “Ozark” spelled backwards), there is truly a New Orleans-style Mardi Gras setting here in the beautiful Ozarks within the downtown area of Eureka Springs, AR. This event, in its seventh year, has grown phenomenally and is now deeply rooted in the Victorian town with our up and down and curly-Q streets. So if you’re looking for some good fun in the doldrums of wintertime – and always think Eureka is too quiet during the winter – check out the Mardi Gras schedule below:

Sunday, January 8: King’s Day Kickoff
Saturday, January 28: Christening the Floats
Saturday, February 11: Taste of N’Awlins
Thursday, February 16: Hookers & Jokers Ball
Friday, February 17: Coronation Ball
Saturday, February 18: Downtown Parade
Saturday, February 18: Costume Contests
Saturday, February 18: Beaux Art Ball
Sunday, February 19: Jazz Brunch
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, February 19, 20 & 21: ArtiGras
Monday, February 20: Artists Reception
Tuesday, February 21: Krazo 2nd Line Pub Crawl
Tuesday, February 21: St. ‘Lizbeth Cajun Ball

For more details on when and where, click here.

Most everything is within walking distance of us here at the Bridgeford House, so it won’t matter if you imbibe a little bit. So – Laissez les bon temps Rouler! (Let the good times roll!)

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

Writers Conference Coming to Eureka Springs

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

We all have a wanna-be-a-writer inside of us. I’ve even started a book or two. I think if I just stuck with it, it might not even be half bad! But one thing that always gets me in the mood is inspiration from authors I enjoy reading. Coming back to Eureka Springs is the 43rd Annual Ozark Creative Writers Conference, October 6-8, 2011. Featured speaker is David Morrell, who has been a long-time favorite of mine, because I love action thrillers. He should have some awesome tips to share. Also featured is a writer’s agent, Gordon Warnock.

The conference has several other speakers and subjects including such items as “Ten Stupid Things in Writing You Never Thought About. And the Secret to Never Forgetting Them” and “Dialogue, Speaking Frankly. The Secrets to Making Your Characters Talk Naturally and Not Sound Forced or Staged, While at the Same time Moving Your Story. Tips for Talking and Pitfalls to Avoid”. Cost for the conference is $119.00 per person. There are a few contests and awards. Check out their site for more details.

And you can come to Eureka Springs throughout the seasons for true inspiration!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

Upcoming Car Shows

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

Well, I write this to the sights and sounds of all the great VW bugs and buses that have been in town all this past weekend. We had a blast watching them from our front porch with some great guests, who collected lots of candy and Mardi Gras beads! It made us start looking forward to the next car show, which is one of my favorites, the Antique Auto Festival – in its 41st year! Coming September 9 & 10th, it’s sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, and event details include hundreds of vintage classics competing for prizes and trophies. Includes a car show with  the parade, which of course – goes right by our front porch! The 1922 Bank Robbery re-enactment follows directly after the antique car parade; re-creating the first time an automobile was used as a getaway vehicle in a bank robbery. That is always loads of fun and no bystanders have ever been shot yet {grin}.

From Bridgeford House B& B Front PorchThe first weekend in October has the Carroll County Cruisers Open Car Show. And by far one of the most exciting is the Annual Corvette weekend, October 6-9, their 21st time in Eureka! Gorgeous ‘vettes will be everywhere, both new and restored. This show is so big they used to run the parade only at night time. Now you just get to see them all over town.

October 20-23 will see all the Mini-Coopers arriving. I love the minis – just the right size for Sophie to drive! Very colorful and of course, easy to drive around Eureka’s skinny and windy streets. Fall color should be hitting just right about that time.

So come enjoy the cars without the car maintenance bills! There’s always something going on in Eureka Springs, AR!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

The Bugs are Coming!

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

No, not that kind…VW bugs! And all other manner of Volkswagen vehicles – back again for their annual festival, for the 19th year! August 26, 27th and 28th, 2011 – you can sit right on our front porch and watch these colorful automobiles tootle by during their Saturday afternoon parade, as many as 300 of them right in front of you. Some of them are pretty outrageous (there is usually one that’s all dressed up like a frog).  It’s one of the biggest car parades that Eureka has and also one of the most colorful!

There’s a Saturday show and swap meet, a Sunday Countryside Tourcade (and you know what our countryside looks like!) and a BBQ dinner, for those folks that register to be in the show. But for you wanna-bes, just come enjoy the bugs and buses for yourself, while shopping and dining and people-watching – it’s a great weekend to just get outside!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

Eureka Springs Bluesfest Weekend is Almost Here!

Monday, March 21st, 2011

June 2, 3, 4 & 5th is the date – Eureka Springs is the place! Bluesfest weekend comes around every year and we love it! Besides being an awesome gathering of blues artists, this festival benefits one of our favorite things in town, Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. It also benefits the HART fund, which is for musicians and their families in financial need from health issues.

Every year incomparable blues musicians come to town and there is music in every venue and on every corner. This year’s headliners include Coco Montoya and Elvin Bishop, who will be playing at the Auditorium. Many other names that will be appearing all over town include Rose Ledet, Little Joe McLerran, Buddy Shute and many more! On a beautiful spring weekend, you’ll hear fantastic music all weekend long at the Basin Park downtown – for free!

Free music outdoors, all weekend!

We really are a perfect location, within an easy 10 minute walk to all the main venues. But when you’re ready for some peace and quiet, head back “home” to us at the B&B, because we’re away from the maddening crowd!

Most lodging in Eureka Springs has a 3-day minimum that weekend and they fill up fast. We do still have a couple of rooms left ourselves, but they won’t last long. No matter where you stay, make sure that you add the Bluesfest weekend in Eureka Springs to your bucket list – it will be a weekend you’ll not long forget!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

Eureka Springs Grand Illumination

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

Last year during May, Eureka Springs had its inaugural Grand Illumination event – and it was wonderful! Colorful and bright, we had beautiful Japanese and Chinese lanterns decorating houses and inns all around Eureka Springs, including the Bridgeford House B&B. Sam went a little crazy with her first year of lanterns, but luckily we still have quite a few left. And this year the town is hoping to be lit up even better than before, as this new event gets more and more popular each year.

In addition, this year the event has been extended to the entire month of May, during our May Festival of Arts. There will also be the Grand Illumination Upstairs Downtown Tour & Taste which is on May 1st from 4-7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for this tour of homes and lodging facilities that will include a taste sampling of food and beverages supplied by several shops and downtown restaurants.

Also, plan to join us for the Grand Luminary celebration in Basin Spring Park at 7 p.m., May 1st. We will be honoring our annual Grand Luminary and lighting the park. The Grand Illumination is sponsored by the Eureka Springs Downtown Network.

There is so much going on during May, it’s just too much for one blog! See the May Festival of Arts schedule and reserve your room accordingly!

Looking forward to enjoying spring in Eureka!

The 2011 Eureka Springs Season is Gearing Up!

Sunday, March 6th, 2011

It’s early March and we just had an awesome Mardi Gras parade yesterday, with all kinds of Mardi Gras activities continuing during this next week.

But also this week we have our two fabulous music shows opening back up, the Pine Mountain Jamboree and the Ozark Mountain Hoedown, which is celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this year! Both shows feature incredible musicians and lots of laid back comedy.

The 18th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is coming up this next week – wow, two parades only a week apart! And both involve Pub Crawls. No place better than that then Eureka Springs. That’s downtown Saturday, March 12th at 2:00 p.m. It’s very easy walking distance from the inn. That same day they’ll be running the 29th Annual Victorian Classic Road Race.

Don’t forget this time of year is the very popular Spring Antique Show, in it’s 15th year.

And that’s only in the next couple of weeks! Wait until we really start warming up! (Pun intended!)

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

Valentine’s and Chocolate Lover’s Weekend February 11-12, 2011

Saturday, January 15th, 2011

Everybody knows that Eureka Springs is for lovers and that we have some great chocolate shops here! But how about a WHOLE WEEKEND of chocolate? Our annual Chocolate Lover’s Festival coincides with Valentine’s weekend and it is a gastronomical delight. Tickets are $10 per person and allows you to sample all the chocolate goodies your stomach can possibly hold, plus pack some to take home. You will experience everything from chocolate fountains, brownies, candies and cookies to chocolate drinks and chocolate body care products! There is always chocolate dipped strawberries, which is one of my personal favorites. (Check out and LIKE their Facebook page to keep up-to-date on all the details.)

This year the weekend will include a seminar on chocolate on Friday, the 11th, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The Seminar will be made up of four sessions: The History of Chocolate; The Health Benefits of Chocolate; Cooking with Chocolate and The pairing of Wine and Chocolate. Lunch will be served.

There will also be a St. Valentine’s Day ball on Saturday evening, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., all at the Convention Center. Reservations need to be made by February 08 for the seminar and February 09 for the Ball. Call 888-465-4753 for more information.

Check with us on rooms here at the Bridgeford House; we do have a few left but don’t expect them to last long! Meanwhile, take a look at Eureka’s Year at a Glance calendar for all the exciting things coming up in 2011!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) – and Sophie, too!

2nd Saturday Gallery Stroll

Sunday, October 10th, 2010

From April to December, on the second Saturday of each month (and every Saturday in May) the galleries open their doors from 6-9 p.m. with special shows and artist receptions. Participating galleries include:  Iris at the Basin Park, Eureka Thyme Gallery, JA Nelson Gallery, Zark’s Fine Design Gallery, Quicksilver Gallery, The Jewel Box Gallery, Eureka Fine Art Company, 83 Spring St. Gallery and Fusion Squared Gallery. (See map of Spring St. for locations.)

For the past twenty-three years, American Style Magazine has named Eureka Springs as a “Top Twenty-Five Arts Destination”. The Eureka Springs Gallery Association has galleries that represent over a thousand artists, offering remarkably unique high quality arts and fine crafts. There are local, regional and even international artists represented, in a wide variety of media. You will find not only wall art, such as paintings, but also glasswork, wooden sculptures, photography, high quality unique jewelry, pottery, bronze scultures and even feather masks – way too many items to even begin to name!

As they say, there truly is “art around every corner” in Eureka (and you know we have a lot of corners!) And, of course, all are an easy stroll from us here at the Bridgeford House.

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!
