Pine Mountain Jamboree – A Hopping Good Music Variety Show!

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

Since 1975 folks have been visiting and enjoying the Pine Mountain Jamboree for its music:  Rock and roll, bluegrass, country, blues and gospel. What you may not know is how funny they are! They have the distinction of being Arkansas’ first and most attended family show and when entertainer Scott Dewbre gets going with his antics and his costumes, there’s not a sad face in the crowd.

Mike and Dale Bishop are the mainstays of the show, a long-time married couple that have spent their whole marriage touring and making music for folks. Along with Scott, they have an incredibly talented cast of musicians that not only play their particular instruments but have some of the most beautiful voices ever heard this side of the Mississippi. Their variety of music appeals to all and their comedy is rip-roaring and clean (which is awfully hard to find nowadays!)

Their season runs March through December, six days a week (closed on Sundays), with a few more closed days in November. From November 10th through the closing date for the season of December 10th, they will be performing their special Christmas show, which are guaranteed to get you into the holiday spirit.

Adults are $24.00 each, which includes tax, and children under 12 are free. They have a wonderful gift shop in their lobby, which will have you shopping for an hour. Of course, there is a concession stand and the popcorn is free!

We are happy to make reservations for you for the show during your stay with us, so don’t hesitate to ask. You’ll have a wonderful time and go to sleep that night with dancing feet and a light heart!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

Opera in the Ozarks

Sunday, March 27th, 2011

Close to our inn and celebrating 61 years, Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point is a unique training program and festival founded in 1950. Affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), Opera in the Ozarks has earned the reputation of being a prominent training program for all singers interested in pursuing a career in opera. Our alumni have sung on all the major operatic stages of the world. One of the outstanding features of the program is that every participant is afforded an opportunity to perform in fully produced operas, an evening scenes program or an educational outreach program taken to the several areas in Northwest Arkansas. Four weeks of intensive rehearsals under the direction of a professional staff lead to a culminating month of performances over the course of which the season artists continue to grow and develop.

Opera in the Ozarks is located in the northwest corner of Arkansas, seven miles west of beautiful and historic Eureka Springs, on scenic Route 62. One of the most picturesque spots in the south central USA, Inspiration Point is a look-out site  perched atop Rock Candy Mountain, between the beautiful White River Valley and Beaver Lake.

The Opera’s 2011 season starts Friday, June 24th, with Die Fledermaus, by Johann Strauss, Jr. The season runs through July 23rd and also features Little Women, by Mark Adamo, and Le Nozza di Figaro, by Mozart (sung in Italian). These are incredible performances done by up and coming young opera stars – don’t miss it!

Eureka Springs Bluesfest Weekend is Almost Here!

Monday, March 21st, 2011

June 2, 3, 4 & 5th is the date – Eureka Springs is the place! Bluesfest weekend comes around every year and we love it! Besides being an awesome gathering of blues artists, this festival benefits one of our favorite things in town, Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. It also benefits the HART fund, which is for musicians and their families in financial need from health issues.

Every year incomparable blues musicians come to town and there is music in every venue and on every corner. This year’s headliners include Coco Montoya and Elvin Bishop, who will be playing at the Auditorium. Many other names that will be appearing all over town include Rose Ledet, Little Joe McLerran, Buddy Shute and many more! On a beautiful spring weekend, you’ll hear fantastic music all weekend long at the Basin Park downtown – for free!

Free music outdoors, all weekend!

We really are a perfect location, within an easy 10 minute walk to all the main venues. But when you’re ready for some peace and quiet, head back “home” to us at the B&B, because we’re away from the maddening crowd!

Most lodging in Eureka Springs has a 3-day minimum that weekend and they fill up fast. We do still have a couple of rooms left ourselves, but they won’t last long. No matter where you stay, make sure that you add the Bluesfest weekend in Eureka Springs to your bucket list – it will be a weekend you’ll not long forget!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

Gordon Lightfoot in Eureka Springs, AR!

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

“If you could read my mind, love,

What a tale my thoughts could tell

Just like an old time movie

‘Bout a ghost from a wishin’ well…”

“From the 60s until today, many top artists have covered his songs, including Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan (and Lightfoot has recorded his songs as well), George Hamilton IV, Olivia Newton-John, Barbra Streisand, Tony Rice, Nanci Griffith, Sarah McLachlan and other talented artists too numerous to list. His achievements have been recognized in the music industry and in his native Canada. He has five Grammy nominations and 17 Juno Awards (the Canadian equivalent) and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame in 1986. In 1970, he received the prestigious Order Of Canada; in 1997 he received the Governor General’s award – the highest official Canadian honor; and in September, 2001, he was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall Of Fame.

All of this discussion is mostly about the music, always beautiful, inventive, and performed with perfection at every concert appearance – a tribute to his fine backup band as well as to Lightfoot himself. But it is perhaps his lyrics, and the combination of his words and music, that set him apart from all the others. What is unique about Lightfoot is that he appears to have heightened senses; he sees, hears and feels things that most of us don’t; and then he can create the music and lyrics to help us see, hear and feel what he does. Whether it is a love song, or a song of lost love, a historical ballad – which he writes like no other songwriter of the last half-century – or a highly personal song, what he says and how he says it leaves a lasting and often evolving impression as the listener uncovers new layers of meaning in the song.” (Valerie Magee, www.gordonlightfoot.com website).

The fabulous Gordon  Lightfoot is coming to Eureka Springs Sunday, August 22, 2010! The show starts at eight and there are still tickets available, but you better call soon! We have plenty of rooms here at Bridgeford House on that Sunday night and one night reservations are fine, plus Sunday nights are a lower weekday rate, of course. You can walk easily to the Auditorium downtown, so call today for the best room in town!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) Feldman – and Sophie, too!

Eureka’s Fabulous Music Shows!

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

If you have not been to either of our incredibly talented music shows here in town, you are in for a treat. Rivaling anything in Branson, or anywhere else for that matter, the Pine Mountain Jamboree and the Ozark Mountain Hoedown features some of the most talented musicians on either side of the Mississippi.

Mike & Dale, your hosts of the Pine Mountain Jamboree, will welcome you with open arms and serenade you with bluegrass, country, gospel and rock-n-roll. Their band is fabulous and those guys have some incredible voices! Watch out for Scott’s antics, you will laugh yourself out of your seat. And you can’t beat getting free popcorn.!

Down the road at the Ozark Mountain Hoedown, P. Nutt, Ponytail, Girl, and Granny play off the audience each night and you never know what might happen. Besides the fabulous musicians (I love a good fiddle player and theirs is world-class), their comedy will have you rolling in the aisle. They are absolutely the best at one-liners and ad-libbing with their audience, so be careful if you sit on the front row!

Don’t miss either one of these when you come visit Eureka. They are just fabulous good, clean shows. You can purchase tickets directly from their box offices or you can add them to your reservations with us online or by phone and we’ll be happy to get them all taken care of for you – either way, just go see ‘em!

Warmest regards,

Jeff and Nadara (Sam) – and Sophie, too!
